How much do people calling me on Whistle get charged?
I'm in California, but I notice that my Whistle number is a
Pennsylvania area code. If my friends and family in California call
my Whistle number, will they get charged for a long distance call
to Pennsylvania?

Whatever their phone bill is - they usually have unlimited, meaning any call to you is free, but if they dont have unlimited calls or minutes, and they happen to run out when they call you, only then will they be charged

Can I get my Whistle area code number changed?

It says the number can't be changed. I agree the lack of local number support is an issue.

Ed,
Choice of area code is actually one of the prime features being planned for the upcoming Whistle version 1.2. Users will be able to either receive a free, random number, or pay a small fee for their choice of area code.
